Redevelopment Activities

BLDI was retained by a development company to conduct the necessary environmental due diligence to develop several parcels located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The property was previously utilized for numerous commercial and industrial operations since the 1800’s, including furniture manufacturing, brass manufacturing, blacksmithing, a lumber yard, and coal & fuel storage. BLDI utilized its expertise to prepare a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) and Soils Management Plan for the client. Due to the concentrations of contaminants identified at the property during the environmental due diligence process, BLDI worked with the client to successfully install a sub-slab depressurization system (SSDS) and vapor barrier during the development stage.

The project ultimately enabled the construction of a large hotel, the creation of numerous new jobs, and improved the aesthetics and function of the downtown Grand Rapids area.
