The new Phase I ESA ASTM E1527-21 standard is here! ASTM published the latest version of the Phase I ESA standard on Monday, November 15, 2021. The current version of the Phase I ESA standard (E1527-13) will sunset by December 31, 2021, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) is set to adopt this latest version of the Phase I ESA standard in early to mid-2022. Until the US EPA formally adopts this version of the standard, it will not be required to meet All Appropriate Inquiries (AAI); however, BLDI recommends ensuring that any Phase I ESA ordered prior to the adoption still meets the newest standard.
