New Phase I ESA ASTM E1527-21 Standard Formally Adopted by the U.S. EPA

It’s official! The new Phase I ESA ASTM E1527-21 standard (initially published in November 2021) has been formally adopted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) and takes effect on February 13, 2023. The previous version of the Phase I ESA standard (E1527-13) is now considered to be a “historical standard” and the US EPA will remove its reference to the previous 2013 standard after one year. At that time, Phase I ESAs must meet the ASTM E1527-21 standard in order to meet All Appropriate Inquiries (AAI). Please be assured that all Phase I ESAs currently performed by BLDI meet the requirements of the newest ASTM standard and AAI.
